REPORT ON VISIT TO CHIKMAGALUR

OBJECTIVE-The visit to Chikmagalur, was organized as a part of curriculum for 6th semester students of Architecture. A site has been selected in Chikmagalur  near Rameshwara lake , where students will be working on  design proposals for Campus Planning in the currents semester. 

ABOUT THE SITE STUDY
As a part of curriculum, students are assigned a contoured (sloped) site to work on and give design proposals. The site was selected in Allampura, near Rameshwara lake, 4 kms away from Chikmagalur . The site offers a contoured land, scenic views, plethora of flora and culture to respond and address in design.
Students were taken to the site to study various aspects like Surrounding, history, topography, climatic condition, sensory features, local culture and architecture.
As the site was 24 acres, students were divided in 6 groups of 8-10 students and assigned to study different parameters across the given site. By the end of the day students compiled the study done and presented it to the faculties.Students also visited the Belur and Halebid to study the rock cut architecture of Hoysala dynasty.
