You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream. – C.S. Lewis
Every time I hear the word dream, I can't help but reflect on how far we have come as human beings over the past year. We faced several challenges in the past year, particularly in the field of education, but we overcame them all to advance. Awakening from a deep slumber, REVA University became one of the few Universities in South India to organise on-campus convocation in 2022. That’s not all. In the most recent QS Asian University Ranks 2023 list, we also received good rankings. This, in my opinion, was a morale booster at a crucial moment.
Along with this, our flagship programme, REVA Vanamahotsava, helped us accomplish the seemingly impossible. Our goal when we launched this effort in 2021 was modest: to plant as many saplings as possible throughout the City. But by August 2022, we succeeded in doing the unthinkable. I am overjoyed that we were able to plant more than 15,000 saplings throughout the City in just one year. I can't help but thank the entire REVA team for their tireless efforts in realising this ambition. In 2023, I intend to keep doing the same thing better and bigger.
Looking back, I'm happy we were able to accomplish more than we had anticipated. In 2022, we aligned with United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. We carried out a number of activities as part of this that benefit the overall goal. Pancavaktram by the School of Performing Arts & Indic Studies was one activity that stood out. I am blown away by the reception to this special dance production that was performed around the country. I could interact with gurus and art experts and hear their perspectives on Pancavaktram. Similarly, we also conducted Nyaya Darshana, Samaavesha, Pragna, and Abhivyakti which aligned with various SDG goals. We intend to widen the spectrum of SDG goals in the coming year as well.
Your goal for the coming year should be to inspire the younger generation and advance society. I strongly believe that educating and empowering youth is the cornerstone of a civilised society since they are the leaders of the future.
While drafting your resolutions for the year ahead do keep in mind a few social initiatives that you would feel proud of as a human being and REVA will be proud of you for being human. As for my resolution for 2023, professionally, I resolve to make REVA a Social Impact University, participate along with the youth in the PM’s G20 Initiative for the country, align with the UN SD Goals that we have picked on and ‘YES’ look at the New Year ahead with positivity.
To all of my beloved readers, I wish you a joyous, prosperous, and wonderful New Year in 2023!
