Disruptive consequences are seen in the domain of education throughout the entire economy and Education has not been unaffected either. While one school of thought talks about how there will be a lot of demand for Engineering graduates in the post COVID world, the reality in the minds of Engineering aspirants is a perplexed one. While companies have now geared themselves to adapt to the evolving new post COVID world of business, they will need to redefine goals, reorient their work culture, fight uncertainty and ensure the balance in the economy for their businesses to be maintained.
For those Engineering aspirants, it is important to understand and assimilate that in the new era, Engineering education will be redefined and the first step towards that has been India’s NEP. No longer will Engineering students be passive learners and lab workers, but grow to be problem solvers and innovators. This is where a Multidisciplinary University will make a difference. The entire approach to learning will now be inter-disciplinary. Data Science and AI will be the new mantra. Universities will have to be better equipped to balance the changes and be quick to adapt to these challenges of the changing world.
With REVA we are not only a Multidisciplinary University but have been quick to equip ourselves with newer programmes in Engineering, focus on cyber security, AI and Data Science. Technology, we are aware is the new language and our lives during the pandemic has proved that for us. Innovation and reimagining the Engineering education has been priority for us Educators. Projects that not only focus on technology but also look at agriculture, health, climate and other domains has become mandatory for Engineering education. Mechanical, Civil, Electrical or Electronics Engineering studies has to move beyond the conventional and conservative learning and has to be inter-disciplinary in nature. It has to integrate with pure sciences and also with Humanities and Social Sciences apart from building an Entrepreneurial mindset in the newgen Engineering aspirants. Mindset has to change and so has the student and the teacher got to keep pace with the changing trends.
A digital University, a Multidisciplinary University and a University that is willing to change, has adapted itself seamlessly to the post COVID world is the University of choice that an Engineering aspirant should aim at. We at REVA have always been pioneers in bringing about change and with the team effort and orchestrated work between each School, I am sure every single entrant to REVA will get nothing but the best in Engineering Education.
