ANAAGATA 2023

The Faculty of Architecture, Planning, and Design, REVA University, is honored to host the National Association of Students of Architecture (NASA) Expert Lecture series, aptly called ANAAGATA 2023 for students of architecture from universities and colleges across India. The NASA talk series is one of our flagship programs that seek to bring reputed architects and professionals to the student community to inspire and enthuse them. The event will witness a congregation of over 350 students from Architecture schools in Zone 5. The sylvan campus of REVA University, Bangalore will witness a galaxy of renowned architects of national and international repute. 
 
The event intends to throw light into the future of architecture and understand the same from the perspectives of a diverse set of architects. The event will consist of 2 keynote presentations that will be delivered by eminent professionals from the field of architecture followed by an exquisite panel discussion consisting of architects and designers from diverse backgrounds of practice. Post-panel the event will end with some fun cultural programs for our delegates.

Forays into the future

Since its inception in 2015, School of Architecture, REVA University has carved a unique niche for itself with its constant efforts to bridge the gap between academia and practice. Anaagata- Forays into the future is one such initiative in association with the National Association of Students of Architecture (NASA). 

“Architecture embraces the past, enhances our present as it races towards the future.”
Anaagata celebrates the unbound spirit of architecture as we stride towards the next century. The future presents to us unlimited possibilities where digital tools merge with avant Garde thinking in lateral dimensions. New paradigms in design and construction await us as we stand on the brink of massive technological and theoretical advancements in the field.

National Association of Students of Architecture (NASA) is one of the largest student bodies of architecture students in the world with student participants from over 200 colleges in India and around the world. NASA bridges the gap between students and professionals in the field of architecture and design and those who are affected by their outcomes. NASA voices the opinions and issues concerning the student community and helps them to stage it. The NASA talk series is one of its flagship programmes which seek to bring reputed architects and professionals to the student community in order to inspire and enthuse them.

This year, School of Architecture, REVA University was the designated host for NASA Zone 5 talk series titled- Anaagata- Forays into the future on August 30-31, 2019.

The two day event witnessed a congregation of over 400 students from Architecture schools from Goa, Andhra Pradesh, Telengana and Karnataka. The sylvan campus of REVA University, Bangalore played host to a galaxy of renowned architects of national and International repute. Some of the distinguished architects who have graced the event include-

Student participants were exposed to novel diverse topics such as Aesthetic Future, Collaborative Future, Sustainable Future and Green Future during the talk series. The event was inaugurated in the presence of Hon’ble Chancellor, REVA University Dr. P. Shyama Raju. The inaugural function was graced by Dr. S. Y. Kulkanrni, Vice Chancellor and Dr. M. Dhanamjaya, Registrar, REVA University. Ar Sangeeth Sharma, Ar. Eko Prawoto and Ar. Juan Carlos Dall’Asta were the guests of honour for the inaugural session. 

Dr. Vimala Swamy, Director School of Architecture initiated the programme with a brief introduction regarding the event. She welcomed the esteemed guests and student delegates who had assembled in great numbers to witness the unique event. Guest of Honour Ar. Sangeet Sharma took the dais to share his insight regarding the profession and convey his wishes for the success of the event. Dr. P. Shyama Raju, Chancellor, REVA University appreciated the efforts put together by the students and faculty members in planning the mega event. He broached the topic of sustainability and emphasized on the need for resource conservation to make sure our future generations are secure. His motivating words along with his undying commitment to excellence set the stage for the proceedings of the day. The inaugural function concluded with handing over of mementoes to the dignitaries on the stage.

Anaagata- Forays into the future is composed of six technical talks as well as informal events such as quiz, open mic and cultural programme for the benefit of the student delegates. Ar. Eko Prawoto took the dais for the first much anticipated session of the day. His commitment to sustainability and sincere attempt towards establishing an equilibrium with nature immediately struck a chord with the students. The young minds were enthralled by his avant garde thoughts as he expounded the philosophy of building in tandem with nature. His awe inspiring talk left a deep impression on the young minds gathered for the event.

 The next session was led by Ar. Sangeet Sharma. Ar. Sharma spoke about Cubist modernism in architecture. He shared several of his notable works with the audience while emphasizing on the need to integrate artistic sensibilities and sincerity towards form and material into architecture. The students were highly inspired by his talk. The day further holds talk by Ar. Kiran Venkatesh followed by informal events and an evening of colourful cultural performances. 

The first session for day 2 was led by Ar. Naveen Panuganti, a renowned landscape architect from Hyderbad. He shared his vision of sustainable landscape integrated with buildings, by removing the barrier between built and unbuilt spaces. The second session was led by Prof.Juan Carlos Dall’asta, where he explained the artistic approach of architecture, by considering every part of land as a canvas which has its own past, present and future which has to be considered while designing.  And the final talk session was led by Ar. Indrajit Kembhavi, who has beautifully explained how we can deduce learnings from the historical buildings and also how we can create heritage for future generations. 

The day 2 of talk series ended with a panel discussion by Ar. Anup Naik along with Ar. Indrajit Kembhavi, Ar. Juan Carlos, Ar. Naveen Panuganti and Ar. Eko Prawoto on the dias. This session concluded the synopsis of the various themes of the talk series, as a take-way for the students. 

The event has been a great success with active participation from students and the architecture fraternity. Such talks and discussions are the need of the hour as we leap into the next century. Sensitization of young minds towards the possibility of a sustainable future remains one of the major achievements of the event.
