With the growing availability of data, many recent developments in health technologies have centred on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine learning over large datasets. However, healthcare is safety-critical, and there are many challenges to deploying novel technologies in health contexts. In this talk, outline be on some of these challenges and present the Measurement, Algorithm, Presentation (MAP) model for reasoning about people's interactions with AI-based Clinical Decision Support systems. Light will also be thrown on examples from three ongoing projects that have developed advanced AI solutions to support clinical decision making to illustrate the application of the MAP model and how it supports reasoning about users interactions and about what is needed for successful deployment into clinical practice.
