The "Design for Strength" competition at REVA University’s School of Architecture invites students to rethink conventional ideas about strength across design, materials, and community. This unique design challenge turns the spotlight on innovation, asking participants to transform discarded materials into compelling prototypes that redefine what strength means today—from structural resilience and material transformation to emotional and cultural endurance. Students will sketch, build, and visually communicate their concepts through an A3 poster and a prototype built entirely from recycled or upcycled materials. With references to pioneers in sustainable architecture and material ecology, the competition is more than just a contest—it's a hands-on experiment in creative thinking, resourcefulness, and storytelling. Awards, exhibition opportunities, and networking come together to celebrate ideas that turn waste into wonder and question what it means to truly build for strength.
