About the Event/Activity:
School of Architecture, REVA University organized an expert lecture for the 4th semester students titled – Provincial Islamic Architecture of Bengal and Jaunpur delivered by Ar. Neeraja Jayan as a part of the HOA-IV studio.
Ar. Neeraja Jayan commenced the expert lecture by giving a brief introduction to the timeline of Provincial Islamic Architecture in India, the factors that influenced the Provincial Islamic Architecture, salient features of the Islamic style in Bengal with examples like Adina Mosque, Eklakhi Tomb and Dakhil Darwaza, salient features of the Islamic style in Jaunpur with examples like Atala Masjid, Lal Darwaza Masjid and Jama Masjid.
Outcome of the Event:
The students sketched the salient features and important examples of Provincial Islamic Architecture from Bengal and Jaunpur during both the sessions. The students will also be producing 1 journal sheet as a part of the portfolio with a comparative analysis of one example each from Bengal and Jaunpur.
