Guest talk on Importance of Microbes in Soil Health and Agriculture

Activity Conducted:

The guest talk for international microorganism day started off on a positive note with a welcome speech by Prof Shilpa. B.R, HOD and Deputy Director, School of Applied Sciences. This was followed by the introduction of chief guest by Dr. N.M. Guruprasad who presided over the welcome ceremony. Our guest speaker Mr. K N Radhakrishna then took over the dais and began his talk titled “Importance of microbes in soil health and agriculture”. He presented data on his current work on mushroom cultivation and gave a detailed insight on the importance of retaining soil health for better nutrition to reach human lives. He went on to emphasize the role of farmers in our country’s economy as well. On the whole, students got a firsthand experience of how the entrepreneurship world involving microbes-based industries are faring in the competitive world. It was an informative and engaging session for all. The talk ended with a vote of thanks by Prof Shilpa B.R.
