Immersion Programme School of Performing Arts and Indic Studies

School of Performing Arts & Indic Studies brings to you the Immersion Programme, an online webinar series that prepares all SOPA & IS candidates for the World of Performing Arts. Get acquainted with the wonderfully vibrant, aesthetically rich and the colourful gamut of Performing Arts. Get a chance to learn about traditional disciplines in a modern context. Get to know the digital scope of Performing arts while understanding this powerful medium of communication. Students get to see a plethora of different courses offered under one roof for the first time in South India. We offer myriad course options for students of Performing Arts.

Schedule:
Day 1: 22/07/2020 - School of Performing Arts and Indic Studies – an encapsulation

  • An insight into various avenues that can be explored in the field as Performers, Innovators, Choreographers, Producers and Entrepreneurs in the Arts field
  • An opportunity to get a glimpse of the different facets of Performing Arts in an Indian context and subsequently understand it’s relevance in a global scenario.

Day 2: 24/07/2020 - Itihaasa: a journey from then to now

  • Delve into the centuries’ wealth of knowledge available in the Indian Arts History repository.

Day 3: 27/07/2020 - Body and Soul (I): Exploring Angika Abhinaya in Kuchipudi, Bharatanatyam, Odissi

  • Exploring and extending the boundaries of physical movement and flexibility in the paradigm of our Indian Classical Art forms

Day 4: 28/07/2020 - Body and Soul (II): Exploring Angika Abhinaya in Kathak and Mohiniyattam

  • Exploring and extending the boundaries of physical movement and flexibility in the paradigm of our Indian Classical Art forms

Day 5: 30/07/2020 - Raag Anuraag: Hindustani and Carnatic Music, the two wings of Indian Music

  • An overview of the history, development and distinguishing features of Hindustani and Carnatic Schools of Music

Day 6: 01/08/2020 - Expression & Impression

  • Part I - Rasa Theory
  • Fundamentals of Bhava and Rasa and what makes Art a great medium of communication
  • Part II - Rangayaana: Theatrical elements of Indian Arts forms
  • Significance of Dramatization in Indian Classical Art forms

Day 7: 03/08/2020 - See the World Through REVA: Alumni speak

  • A look into different avenues to be explored on completion of the course at School of Performing Arts and Indic Studies

Timings: 10.30 am to 12 noon

Candidates will get an e-certificate on completion of the course.
