NATIONAL SCIENCE DAY 2020

To commemorate the invention of ‘The Raman Effect’ by the Indian Physicist, Sir Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman, National Science Day was celebrated by School of Applied Sciences, IIC REVA University at REVA University with great enthusiasm on February 28th, 2020.

The day started with inauguration of National Science Day-2020 by our beloved Chancellor Dr. P. Shyama Raju, the guest Prof. Abhishek Dhar, The Vice Chancellor Dr. S.Y. Kulkarni, the Pro Vice Chancellor, Dr.Y.Lakshman Kumar, the Registrar Dr. M. Dhanamjaya Sir, The Dean School of Applied Sciences Dr. N. Ramesh and the Director Dr.Beena G.

Followed by Inaugural talk from Abhishek Dhar Professor, International Centre for Theoretical Sciences (ICTS-TIFR), Bengaluru on “Order and Patterns in Randomness” which describes how physics and mathematicians find hidden patterns and information in apparently random looking events. This was explained by considering the examples of Random walk, Brownian motion, many particle systems in statistical physics and finally a card trick was exhibited.

Apart from the talk number of Inter University competitions were also organized to promote the active involvement of students in Science such has Science Quiz, Debate on “Gender equality in science and technology advancement”, Painting on Path Breaking Innovations/ Scientific achievements from for Human kind “Women in Space”, Collage on “women in science, Path Breaking Innovations/ Scientific achievements from for Human kind”, Idea pitch, Coding and Science Model exhibition.
