Photography Workshop

The Department of Media Studies, School of Arts and Humanities in association with FUJIFILM organized a workshop on “The Art of Photography & the Mirrorless System” on 9th December 2019. The workshop was primarily targeted towards students pursuing communication studies. The workshop was segregated into two sessions. The first session was led by Mr. Abhishek B A, a FUJIFILM Mentor. During this session MrAbhishek gave hands on demonstration of the anatomy of a digital camera. He carried out a detailed description of each part of the camera, functions and roles. Various photographic references were presented to compare and contrast the functions of the new Mirrorless system technology. FUJIFILM is one among the top brands leading the market with this innovative technology. Towards the end of his session, Mr. Abhishek showcased several works of his to educate the students on how to meet the demands of the industry.

The second session was led by Mr. Subhash Chandra Rao, a former Photography Professor turned freelance photography consultant. In this session, Mr. Rao started off by showcasing some of the iconic photographs of 20th century and held a discussion on how it changed the history of the world. He carried a discourse on street and wildlife photography, explaining the prerequisites of these genres of photography. Finally, the workshop was closed providing the students a clear picture on how to create one’s own image and stated the needs of keeping oneself updated with latest tech trends in the industry.
