Abstract
Organo-hypervalent iodine reagents have low toxicity, easily accessibility, user friendly and environmentally benign attributes which make them attractive reagents as substitute to transition metal mediated oxidations. Among organo-hypervalent iodine (V) reagents, o-iodoxybenzoic acid (IBX) is a mild, user friendly and inexpensive oxidant famous for its versatile applicability. However, the insoluble character hinders its large-scale applications. IBX is unpopular for explosion on heating above 200 ï‚°C. Thus, a structural modification is required to break the cohesive interactions and make the IBX soluble in common solvents. In view of the above, variety of structurally modified IBX have been developed and used for variety of oxidation reactions.
