Dr. Abhisarika Prajapati

HOD, Department of Languages

Aligned with the vision and mission of the University, the Department of English offers an intellectual environment for students to learn and grow as scholars and responsible human being. We strongly believe that Humanities and Arts are such disciplines that enhance our understanding of human culture and they nurture a person’s ability to approach a problem from multiple perspectives and communicate persuasively thereby nurturing their creative and critical thinking. In a world dominated by artificial intelligence, the role of literature and language becomes inevitably significant in connecting people with creativity, aesthetics, ethics, and emotions which are the essential components of humanity. On the academic front, the department offers MA English and PhD programs promoting outcome-based research in the field of literature and language. The MA English program aligned with contemporary trends and practices focuses on equipping the students with the required creative and linguistics skills and making them industry ready.

Our innovative teaching pedagogy, field visits, study trips and exposure to the day today life and intervention of English as a powerful communicative tool make the programme all the more relevant. The learners are encouraged to take up study extension activities as a part of the department’s Abhivruddhi project, teaching English language to students of adopted Govt. schools and to rural students habituate them to contribute to societal progress. The students are encouraged to collaborate in active research and development. The various courses offered in MA English train the learner in the field of translation, language teaching, the art of writing and publishing etc. Many Clubs and societies such as English and Entrepreneurship, Vernacular Languages, Endangered Languages, Literary Club, and Open Mic provide pivotal platforms to develop and groom their abilities in multi- dimensions. In a nutshell, it’s a beautiful blend of conventional and modern approaches. Research is our prime focus and we believe in contributing to the existing body of knowledge with innovative and ground-breaking ideas. Active MoUs with various International universities like ‘Tor Vergata’ University of Rome, Italy, Lakehead University, Canada, and Liverpool John Moores University, England also provide ample opportunities to students to grow unprecedently in their career. We strongly believe in imparting holistic education to students that will lead to the overall development of their personalities by not restricting them to classrooms rather converting the campus into a learning training space.
