Alumni Demo on Teaching

The biggest driving force for most people making the decision to become a teacher is the difference that they can make to young people’s lives on a daily basis. Teaching is one of the few professions where you can inspire a love of learning, assist with personal development and influence where children will go in their lives beyond the school gates.

 As part of Teaching Demo through innovative demo by school Alumni Ms. Praneetha currently Research Scholar of the school.

 The main purpose of this training was to enhance practical exposure on Teaching Methodologies, Classroom Management, Presentation skills, Time Management, and actively engage students in activities-based Teaching.

 The BA JEP students participated enthusiastically and were very excited to know their feedback after the demos. The individual skills which they developed during this session were as follows:

• Lesson planning - having clear cut objectives, and an appropriate planned sequence.
• Set induction - the process of gaining pupil attention at the beginning of the class.
• Presentation - explaining, narrating, giving appropriate illustrations and examples, planned repetition where necessary.
• Stimulus variation - avoidance of boredom amongst students by gestures, movements, focusing, silence, changing sensory channels etc.
• Reinforcement- Recognizing pupil difficulties, listening, encouraging pupil participation and response.
• Questioning - fluency in asking questions, passing questions and adapting questions.
• Silence and nonverbal cues (body language)
• Closure - method of concluding a teaching session so as to bring out the relevance of what has been learnt, its connection with past learning and its application to future learning.
