Eligibility Criteria

3 years/5years Degree in Law from recognized university/ institution with minimum 50% (45% in case of SC/ST) marks in aggregate from any recognized University / Institution. Admission is based on CLAT/LSAT.

Criminal Law is one of the most popular specialisations of law. The study of criminal law includes the statutes, rules, and regulations which define conduct that is prohibited by the law due to the threat it poses as well as the harm it can cause to public safety and welfare. Apart from that, Criminal Law also lays down the punishment that can be imposed on any individual or group of people if they break any law.

Candidates who pursue the specialization of criminal law will interrogate witnesses, interview clients, conduct trials, correlate proofs and findings, prepare a case for the defence of his/ her client and he/ she also has to examine as well as cross-examine witnesses in court.
  • Graduates will also be entrusted with the task of policymaking, crime preventive measures, and the legitimate interests of crime victims.
  • The course enables candidates to deal with the cases of miscarriages of justice and, criminal justice processes.

  • They can also work at the session court, trial court or the high court with various job profiles like Government Advocate, Government Pleader, Additional Public Prosecutor, Criminal Law Practitioner, Lecturer, and Standing Counsel.
