M.Sc. Applied Psychology

Eligibility Criteria

B.A /B.Sc. three years course in Psychology or having studied at least one paper in Psychology at the Graduate level with 50% marks in the aggregate are eligible to apply.

Overview

The focus in M.Sc. Applied Psychology program is to empower students with application and field experience in domain specialisation. The program helps the students to identify their potential and area of specialisation like I/O Psychology or Counselling Psychology. The specialization focused curriculum is designed in all two specializations. The program incorporates rich hands-on experience through supervised internship. A rigorous research training is provided through out the program.

Facilities Available:

Psychology Laboratory/Testing Rooms: These are often used for conducting experiments or assessments.

Classrooms and Lecture Halls: Spaces for teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

Computer Labs: Equipped with software for statistical analysis.

Central Library-The library is equipped with the lates books and journals.

REVA Health and diagnostic centre-The health centre provides all kinds of healthcare services to the students in the campus.

Hostel- The campus has a hostel for the students with comfortable rooms and healthy meals.

  • Pooja B, Student of batch 2023 has received Young Researcher Award in the International Symposium under the guidance of Prof. Namratha M at SDM College Ujjire.
  • Pooja B and Somuki S Student of batch 2023 has presented a research paper in the International Symposium under the guidance of Prof. Namratha M at SDM College Ujjire.
  • International Symposium in association with IAAP – “Mental Health and Well-being: Trends and Challenges” with wide range of sub themes. The date of symposium are 9th and 10th Dec 2022.
  • Priya Shekar, student of batch 2022 has qualified UGC NET.

  • Angel Martis, student of batch 2020 has been selected by IIM Rohtak – Executive Program in Stategic Human Resource Applied Analytics.

  • Priya Shekar  From III Semester M.Sc. presented research paper on ‘Emotional Intelligence and Psychological Well-Being among College going students: A correlational study’ at Diamond Jubilee International Conference on Mental Health themed Public Mental Health: Mental Health of the people, by the people, for the people held on 14th-16th September 2023 at PGIMER, Chandigarh, India.
  • Vachana Subhash and Nafisa from I Semester M. Sc. Presented research paper on ‘Forms and Prevalence of Physical Abuse among College going Adolescents in Bangalore, Karnataka, South India’ in the International Conference on Multidisciplinary Approaches to SDG’s and International Partners Meet 2024 organised by Rajagiri College of Social Science (Autononomus) and Rajagari Business School, Kochi from 10 to 13 January 2024.
  • Shreya V Kulkarni from III Semester M. Sc.   • PSO-1 Advanced Applied Skills Development: Equip students with advanced applied skills necessary for professional practice in various domains of psychology, such as clinical, counselling, organizational, educational, and community settings.
  • PSO-2Cultural Competence and Diversity Awareness: Emphasize understanding of cultural, social, and individual differences, and promote the development of culturally sensitive and inclusive approaches to psychological assessment, intervention, and consultation.
  • PSO-3 Integration of Theory and Practice: Facilitate the integration of theoretical knowledge with practical skills through hands-on training and experiential learning opportunities.

Career Opportunities

After the completion of M.Sc. in Applied Psychology (counselling) program, students will have the opportunity to work in various settings as, Counsellor at, community health centre and hospitals Welfare Officers at both private and public sectors, Researcher at Research and Development Centres, Mental Health Counsellor, Counsellor at educational institutions, NGO’s, and Police Stations, and Counsellor at Family Courts.

After the completion of M.Sc. in Applied Psychology (Industrial) program, students will have the opportunity to work in various settings as, Training and Development Specialist, Wellness Coach, Market Researcher, Freelance consultants, Corporate counsellors.
