Autonomy of Sports Bodies Versus Constitutional Accountability : A Legal Paradox

The School of Legal Studies hosted an insightful session by Dr. Showkat Ahmad Wani on the intersection of sports governance and constitutional accountability. The session explored whether sports authorities function as autonomous bodies or remain accountable under constitutional and governmental oversight. Dr. Wani discussed the legal frameworks governing sports bodies and emphasized the need to balance institutional autonomy with transparency, fairness, and constitutional accountability.

The session enhanced students’ and faculty members’ understanding of the constitutional status of sports authorities and encouraged critical discussions on the relationship between autonomy and accountability in sports governance. It also highlighted the role of legal scrutiny in ensuring responsible and transparent functioning of sports bodies. The event was successfully coordinated by Dr. Mohd. Tauheed Khan and Dr. Sana Humd.
