Blockchain Technology and Advanced Cloud Developer Essentials

FDP Report

Rationale for the Course:

In light of the prevailing dynamic and uncertain times, it has become pertinent for all educators to upgrade their skills and become fully competent in the new Technology so as to continue with their quest for providing higher education of highest standards. The FDP was organized against this backdrop to provide a much-needed opportunity to the faculty to familiarize and equip themselves with various technological tools and platforms for efficient conduct of virtual learning, explore the usage of online courses for learning, teaching and professional development and also build their capability to plan, design and implement online courses that are in tune with international standards.

Inaugural of the Course:

The FDP started with an inaugural session on 25th July, 2022 in the presence of the Dr. M. Dhanamjaya (Vice Chancellor, REVA University), Dr. Rajashekhar Biradar (Pro Vice Chancellor, REVA University), Dr. N. Ramesh (Registrar, REVA University) and Dr. Ashwinkumar U M (Deputy Director, SoCSE). The session began with Welcome Address by Dr Nethravathi N P who discussed the rationale of the FDP and its key components.

The FDP Programme received an overwhelming response with 45 participants from in and around engineering colleges.

The Journey of Five Days

The program was held over the course of five days, where on each day a set of pre-recorded videos were uploaded.

Day 1: 25.7.2022 FDP focused on “Introduction to Cloud” talk started with Er. Lokesh A R and “Introduction to Crypto Currency” was delivered by Prof. Lohith J J and session followed with introduction of the importance of Blockchain technology and various platforms used for implementing the technology. Various applications were made understand to different group of people for their research areas and introduction of the mapping in Blockchain technology and also gave introduction on Ethereum for various mapping techniques. The hands-on session was carried further for different algorithms to analyze data. He has also given introduction on how to deploy and do the transaction in the Ethereum platform and various smart contracts used in Blockchain technology and also discussed the applications of the smart contracts.

On Day 2: 26.07.2022 Prof. Lohith J J started the session with Case Studies on Dapps and continued with the 2nd Case study till afternoon and in the next half session hands on session on smart contract and of Remix (a web based ID for solidity) was handled. Creating a simple contract, compiling, deploying contract in test net and interacting with it.

On Day 3: 27.07.2022 Prof. Lohith J J started the session with introduction with Hyperledger and its framework. After the lunch break, hands-on session was conducted on the topic vulnerability in smart contract.

On Day 4: 28.07.2022 Er. Ashok Kumar K, started the session with CI/CD pipeline using Git, Jenkins and Maven and continued with integrating Tomcat server in CI/CD pipeline. After the lunch break, session continued with the topic on integrating Docker in CI/CD pipeline.

On Day 5: 29.07.2022Er. Ashok Kumar K, started the session with integrating Ansible in CI/CD pipeline and continued with Kubernetes on AWS. After the lunch break, session continued with the topic on integrating Kubernetes in CI/CD pipeline.
