School of Architecture in Collaboration with UIIC offering 4 Days Skill Development course for upcoming 5th Semester students.
Design Builder – An integrated set in-depth, high productivity tools to assist with sustainable building design and assessment.
The in-house faculties, Prof. Sneha Murthy and Prof. Anup Kumar Prasad, formulated a 4 days’ workshop for the students of architecture to get equipped with the software before the commencement of the semester. 5th Semester students divided into two section, each teacher took one section each to give attention to students

- Confidently generate certificate and maximise QA audit using the fastest and easiest software available.
Day 1 (09/08/2021): Introduction
- Introduction to the software
- Brief discussion about Design builder use for architect
- Few case studies.
- Installation of Trial version (1 Month) Design builder
- Autocad, file preperation, for before importing at Design builder
Day 2 (10/08/2021): Modelling
- How to start new project from scratch or through referring CAD file.# modelling on Design builder referring a CAD file.
- Model editing by adding blocks and modifying it.
- Zone demarcation and its significance in thermal area designation
- Helping those who couldn't catch up with process in first half.
- Those who succeeded in first half can try another one and do on their own.
Day 3 (11/08/2021): Input parameters and theory
- Input parameters as per usual profile and thermal need
- U-Value input, listed and non-listed and other possibilities
- Default openings, customized opening.
- Visualization of materials
- Helping those who couldn't catch up with the process in first half.
- Those who succeeded can practice on another one
Day 4 (12/08/2021): Simulation, result analysis and interpretation
- Heating design, cooling Design, consumption analysis.
- Simulation results interpretation as per comfortability standards.
- Helping out the students who are lacking behind
Remarks: Students participated with enthusiasm. The brainstorming and exercise will guide them in future designing and assessment of climate responsive and energy efficient deign.
