For the fresh students of Architecture, form-generation from various resource becomes the critical task. To introduce students to the process of deriving architectural form, from anything and everything, a three days’ workshop has been conducted.
The in-house faculties, Ar. Raghuteja Vemana, Dr. Anupama R M and Ar. Anup Kumar Prasad, formulated a 3 days’ workshop for the architecture students to get inspire and translate any texture, shape, form existing in our surrounding and home, into an innovating architectural form.
Day 1: Texture from the Environment. Students were taken around the REVA campus and taught how to identify and extract texture existing in the surrounding. Through the process of abstraction, innovative 3D model for architecture has been evolved from each texture.
Day 2: Looking through the Frame. A bi-cycle has been kept as a reference. Students were asked to look through a frame of 6inch x 6 inch size. Further they translated the framed part of bi-cycle into an interesting 3D form for architecture.
Day 3: Inspiration from daily groceries. Further in continuation of the process of getting inspired from the day to day life elements, such as, soap bubble, melting candle, flame and fume has become inspiration for deriving 3D form for architecture.
Remarks: Students participated with enthusiasm. The brainstorming and exercise will guide them in future with any Design studio.
