Hip Hop Studies in India: Opportunities for Developing Southern Theories and Fostering Transdisciplinary Collaborations

School of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences of REVA University has conducted an International Expert Guest Leture on Hip Hop Studies in India: Opportunities for Developing Southern Theories and Fostering Transdisciplinary Collaborations March 24th, 2023 in the online mode. Faculty members and Students from Arts,Humanities and Social Sciences and Engineering were the participants. There were 31 participants who attended the session with great fervor and enthusiasm. The lecture gave insights into the study of hip hop culture offering new opportunities for connecting decolonial ideas across the globe and fostering collaborations between different disciplines of knowledge production and applied practice. The resource person also spoke about his own linguistic ethnographic research in Delhi’s emerging hip hop scene(Singh 2022), also critically reflected on what is at stake for academics and practitioners when such new opportunities arise.

The resource person was Dr. Jaspal Naveel Singh, Lecturer in Applied Linguistics and English language at the Open University, Uk. The students expressed their joy in creating such a platform to hone their skills. They showed their enthusiasm and excitement to participate in the upcoming events on a similar line. Prof.Swathi delivered the Vote of Thanks. The lecture was organised by Dr. Vijaya Supriya. There was a Q&A session too.
