Industrial Visit to AKSHAYA PATRA – Unlimited Food for Education

School of Allied Health Sciences organised an Industrial Visit to Akshaya Patra foundation. The Akshaya Patra foundation is a not-for-profit organisation headquartered in Bengaluru, India. The foundation strives to eliminate classroom hunger by implementing the PM POSHAN (Mind-Day Meal) programme. It provides nutritious meals to children studying in government schools and government-aided schools. Of all the four branches in Bengaluru we happened to visit Akshaya Patra at Kanakapura Road, Bengaluru. 67 students of B.Sc. Nutrition and Dietetics along with 3 faculty members were visited the foundation on 13.03.2024. The quality controller Mr. Mohan of the branch addressed the students on how the foundation works and started the visit from the area of storage, pre-processing, processing, and packaging. Students got an opportunity to know how the NGOs works especially in the field of Food Science and Nutrition and acquired knowledge on food handling and storing techniques. Overall it was a great opportunity for the students to gain knowledge and policies on food handling.
