Eligibility Criteria

Bachelors degree of three years in any stream or BE/ B.Tech. with 50% (45% in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST) of marks in aggregate from any recognized University / institution or any other qualification recognized as equivalent thereto.

Overview

This programme is designed to meet the rapidly evolving landscape of mass communication in the new digital fraternity. It provides scope for students to explore their vision and craft in the field of writing and production. A multifaceted course has quantum of opportunities to learn digital software’s in the areas of design and production. In every semester this course is intended to nurture and train students in their overall academic development. Be it photography, videography, graphic designing, films, radio production, news and print media, this course covers it all.

The students will become creative and industry-ready with theoretical and abundant practical knowledge. Project-based learning accompanied with research insights will help students to hone their skills and to face the challenges in the media industry. Due to the exposure and training, they will become excellent professionals in their body of work.

M.A. in Journalism and Mass Communication with specialization in Digital Media and Film Making

M.A. in Mass Communication with specialization in Digital Media and Film Making is a two-year postgraduate degree that aims to equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in the film and digital media industries.

The program covers various aspects of filmmaking such as: direction, cinematography, scriptwriting, audio/video editing, and marketing. The post graduate degree will also cover the entire gamut of digital media production. It encompasses experiential learning through interactive media content creation, multimedia media production, social media management, and digital media marketing. The students will get opportunities to conceptualise short-films for new media. The students will further develop insights in the areas of financing, sales and distribution of the content.

The aim of the program is to provide industry expertise to students in the field of digital and film communication so they can succeed in their body of work. The course is supplemented with expert lectures, industry and field visits where students will get a good understanding of the work culture in film industry and digital media. The students will also have the opportunity to network with industry professionals in order to build connect and ascertain their goals. For all the projects, the University offers excellent state of the art “Media Centre” equipped with video and audio editing, voice recording and a computer lab with latest digital software’s.

The students will be provided with media entrepreneurship opportunities through incubation in REVA NEST. The placement cell will help them bag good positions in the Indias’best companies.

What Will I Experience?

Gain training and guidance in the area of digital storytelling, documentary filmmaking, feature film making and television production. Explore scriptwriting, camera, editing, and sound design. Develop an understanding of film financing, sales and distribution. Acquire good placement opportunities and career support with the assistance from experienced faculty and the REVA University placement cell.
