Guest talk on Kinesin Spindle Protein: An Anticancer Target

The Department of Biotechnology, School of Applied Sciences organized a Guest talk on “Kinesin Spindle Protein: An anti-cancer Target” on 11/10/2022.The resource person for the talk was Rajasekhar Karpoormath, Associate Professor, Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, School of Health Sciences, University of Kwazulu-Natal, Durban, South Africa. He has more than two decades of experience in teaching and Research. The session started with a brief introduction of the resource person by Dr. V Damodaran Reddy followed by welcoming the guest. Dr. Rajasekhar Karpoormath started his talk on discovery of novel drugs through in silico studies. Further, he has explained the role of identification of novel therapeutic drugs to treat various diseases including cancer. He also explained the possible opportunities in both academics and research in South Africa. He also had given the information about funding opportunities as well as fellowship opportunities in abroad. The overall session was quite participatory, and Dr. Rajasekhar Karpoormath gave the students a lot of advices regarding higher studies in South Africa.
