School of Allied Health Sciences, REVA University celebrates “World Environment Day”.
World Environment Day is celebrated annually on 5th June and it is the vehicle for the protection of the environment. First held in 1974, it has been a platform for raising awareness on environmental issue such as marine pollution, human overpopulation, global warming, sustainable consumption and wildlife crime.
Environment Day offers a global platform for inspiring positive change in the environment. It pushes individuals to think about the way they consume the ecosystem and gives them a chance to take action to build a greener future. Each year, marine plants produce more than half of our atmosphere’s oxygen, whereas a mature tree cleans our air, absorbing 22 kilos of carbon dioxide, releasing oxygen in exchange. Despite all that, we humans mistreat our environment. This is why 5th June is marked to make people aware of the importance of the environment in our lives.
