Report on Site Visit to Adithya Developers, Bagalur Cross

OBJECTIVE- To give an on-site experience for the students to understand the construction of shear wall, expansion joints, construction joints, reinforcement details of RCC slab, RCC staircase, footing and the use of Total Station Surveying equipment. 

ABOUT THE STUDY

As a part of curriculum, for Structures-IV and Surveying and Levelling for 4th semester, B.Arch., Students were taken to an under construction project site by Adithya Developers at Bagalur Cross, Bangalore. The project is an upcoming luxury residential apartment and is in the initial phases of construction, and only the foundations of one block and two floors of second block have been constructed. 

The students were taken to the project so that they understand the construction of shear wall, expansion joints, construction joints, and reinforcement details of RCC slab, RCC staircase and the use of Total Station Surveying equipment. The site engineers and faculties explained various drawings and construction details to the students with reference to the existing working drawings of project. Students were also allowed to use Total Station instrument and note down the readings. 
 
SITE VISIT OUTCOME

The  site visit helped in understanding various construction details
The students got the opportunity to see construction of various structural members like isolated footing, raft foundation, shear walls and retaining walls; casting of RCC slabs, staircase, footing, scaffolding, and also the sumps for STP and rain water harvesting.
Students were made to sketch on-site- the various construction details and a two page report on the same has been asked to submit as part of the IA assignment.
