Overview

Gond & Madhubani art techniques for Home decor-A 10-week hybrid mode skilled-based certification course on heritage arts and their application for home décor

This proposal is submitted by the Faculty of Architecture, Planning and Design, REVA University to conduct a 10-week hybrid mode skill-based hands-on certification program on Gond & Madhubani art techniques for Interior home decoration. This program is designed to help the students imbibe the knowledge of the basics of Traditional Folk Art leading to its implementation for creating creative handcrafted home décor items.

Folk art covers all forms of visual art made in the context of culture. The objective of this program is to introduce the students to Gond and Madhubani art traditions rooted in the folk culture of our country. Students will be given an overview of the origin, characteristic features and techniques involved in the art forms followed by demonstration and hands-on sessions where the students will be able to handcraft home décor items following the art traditions. The 10-week skill-based hands-on certification program is designed to inspire learners towards the usage and application of art forms on various materials and design products for home décor.

Course Outcomes

This is a learner-centric programme designed with the students in focus. At the end of the program, the learner moves from awareness of traditional folk art, styles, community, techniques, and tools to appreciating and applying them in home décor products and other aesthetic purposes. The knowledge and skills gained will become useful in the field of contemporary interior design and decoration.
