M.Sc. Clinical Embryology and Assisted Reproductive Technology In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) has come as a boon for the innumerable infertile couples who were languishing for want of progeny. Infertility has risen from 4-5% to 15-18% over the last few decades due to change in life styles, delayed marriages, stressful jobs, so on and so forth. Even after the lapse of more than four decades since the first IVF baby, Louise Brown was born in 1978, we do not have adequate number of qualified and trained Embryologists in the country to handle the ever-increasing percentage of Infertility. The role of the Embryologist is as important and crucial as that of the Gynaecologist / Infertility Specialist in any IVF Centre. Though thousands of ART Clinics (IVF Centres) have cropped up in India in the last one decade, most of them do not have even one in-house Embryologist, because there was no structured training program available. In recent times, Post Graduates in Life Sciences have been trained to perform the procedures of Assisted Reproductive Techniques (ART). Nevertheless, to cater to the massive number of Infertility cases, it becomes necessary to offer 'M.Sc. Clinical Embryology & Assisted Reproductive Technology' to the B.Sc. (relevant Life Science Subject) students available in large numbers and struggling for job opportunities. A Master’s degree in ART with curriculum designed to match the industry requirements will enable the students to effectively work in the IVF units in India as well as abroad. There is a vast scope for research in the field of Infertility which can be pursued by the students on successful completion of this course.

Programme Highlights

  • The Master’s Programme in Clinical Embryology and Reproductive Technology (CE & ART) is a postgraduate programme focused on technological applications of invitro fertilization (IVF).
